How it works

1. 1 Hospital price file We download each hospital’s official machine-readable file (MRF).
2. 2 Parse & normalize We read the standardized CMS data and key it to the procedure’s billing code.
3. 3 Compare hospitals We line up the published prices across hospitals in the same area.
4. 4 Sourced range We publish a dated range, with every number linked to its source file.

Every number links back to the hospital file it came from, with the date we ingested it. See our methodology.
